The ProJect CD Box RS2 Tube CD Player is a reference-grade, top-loading CD player designed for audiophiles who demand authentic Red Book playback combined with the musicality of true valve amplification. Featuring a fully balanced tube output stage, a precision SUOS DM-3381 Red Book CD drive, and a Texas Instruments PCM1796 DAC, it delivers a rich, analogue-inspired sound with exceptional realism and emotional engagement.
Balanced Tube Output & Musical Performance
At the heart of the ProJect CD Box RS2 Tube CD Player is a fully balanced valve output stage using two premium E88CC valves. This carefully voiced tube design adds warmth, harmonic depth and natural fluidity, producing an organic and engaging sound that avoids the sterile character often associated with digital playback.
Integrated DAC with Fully Differential Design
As the first RS-series CD player to feature an integrated DAC, the CD Box RS2 Tube employs the highly regarded Texas Instruments PCM1796 in a fully differential configuration. This design ensures low noise, excellent channel separation and a smooth, analogue-like presentation that perfectly complements the valve output stage.
Dedicated Red Book CD Transport
Designed exclusively for CD-DA (Red Book) playback, the ProJect CD Box RS2 Tube CD Player prioritises accuracy and timing over multi-format compromise. The top-loading SUOS DM-3381 mechanism ensures precise 1:1 data retrieval for consistently clean and reliable playback.
BlueTiger™ CD-88 Servo System
The advanced BlueTiger™ CD-88 servo system works in harmony with the precision CD mechanism to reduce jitter and maintain data integrity. Combined with a magnetic clamp and aluminium cover plate, disc stability is maximised for improved timing accuracy and sonic clarity.
Precision Aluminium Construction
The rigid aluminium chassis and drive mounting minimise vibration and shield sensitive circuitry from electromagnetic interference. This solid mechanical foundation allows the DAC and tube output stage to perform at their full potential.
Power Integrity & Upgrade Options
An external switch-mode power supply is used to keep electrical noise away from the audio circuitry, preserving signal purity. For further performance gains, Pro-Ject offers an optional linear power supply upgrade.
Flexible Connectivity
The ProJect CD Box RS2 Tube CD Player features both fully balanced XLR and single-ended RCA analogue outputs, along with optical and coaxial digital outputs. This allows it to function as a complete CD player or as a high-quality CD transport within a wider system.
European Build Quality
Finished in a precision-machined full aluminium RS2 chassis and supplied with an aluminium IR remote, the CD Box RS2 Tube is available in black or silver and proudly made in Europe to reference standards.
